    1. Aliens, sword fights, mythical creatures, speacil powers, sex, romance, religion, etc This book has everything There s a solid story line that pulls you in If you want something different from your normal reading selection, but still has the qualities you want in a book, I recommend reading this book.

    2. Promised Land A Galatia Novel The Galatia Series C D Verhoff has demonstrated a lively imagination with this book It is full of wonderful characters and interesting scenarios, where the author presents the reader with numerous, possible and even believable, situations that could arise after two catastrophes We have knights, lords and princes meeting mutant creatures with a dose of magic and curious paranormal powers also in the blend Surviving humans are faced with the results of a nuclear holoc [...]

    3. Verhoff writes some very interesting characters Josie is the focus early in the novel People in the new society have gifts and Josie s sisters and mother have the gift of beauty and perhaps, its hinted, seduction When Josie s sister flirts with Lars and steals him from Josie, she uses her gift to injure her sister We get a sense of a self not tempered and true rage from this character She has always lived in the shadows Lars has a similar problem He wants to be part of a fight club but hasn t me [...]

    4. There seems to be some confusion as to whether this is a first in a series or the second, I am clearly getting a first feel here Although the world is based on another book and its time and characters, this is clearly the beginning of something I think is going to be worth reading over the long haul As a first novel it may stray for a bit here and there but all in all it was interesting and peopled with all types of folks that keep you on your toes.Who doesn t like talking humanoid animal types, [...]

    5. A wonderfully imaginative science fiction novel that explores a post apocalyptic future and the few remaining inhabitants struggle to survive The characters are interesting and diverse and the adventures they have along the way demonstrate a vivid inventiveness and a considerable amount of thought The biblical parallels are somewhat strange but do not detract from the storyline However, the recapping of the prequel first book of this series came across as a bit clumsy and seems a bit disconnecte [...]

    6. Characters to fall in love with and a land to pique your deepest interest A story that keeps you sad, excited, wary and bewildered simultaneously Never knowing where you will be going or who what you may encounter next keeps you with your nose in the book and fingers turning the pages The imagery and depth puts you in the middle of the story feeling as if you yourself are making the journey A brilliant format to get you inside the minds of multiple characters I cannot wait to be able to get the [...]

    7. If you were told to find a book that included many genres you would get this book Verhoff does an amazing job of intertwining many genres into one book There are very imaginative characters in this book, and the author takes a few words to describe each but doesn t stray from storyline I am not a huge reader of post apocalyptic novels but this one is one I am glad to have chosen From the biblical parallels to the infallible storyline you just can t get enough of this story.

    8. 9. Old Title Promised LandNew Title EmergeOther than the title, they are the same book The name was changed because there are a bazillion books called Promised Land Emerge is the first book of the Galtia Series.

    10. So close Caution minor spoilers ahead Over fifty years ago, an alien race called the Celeruns made themselves known to the world s governments A colonizing species, their intentions were anything but peaceable rather, Earth s alien invaders unleashed a plague specially bioengineered to destroy humanity While most people did indeed succumb to the plague, a small minority not only survived, but thrived altered genes gave them special abilities called charismas The ability to see the past through t [...]

    11. The premise of the book excited me The idea of mixing nuclear post apocalyptic with magic and sorcery I did enjoy the book, but it felt slow in getting to that mix There is a tiny bit of foreshadowing as the prologue, but then it falls into a bit of a slog to get back to it I definitely like the premise and the development that is there is indeed fascinating It makes a good lead in for a series, with a lot of opened questions It does take a while to get to the exciting parts in my opinion though [...]

    12. What happens when the Earth is simultaneously hit by a plague and attacked by aliens Well obviously you mutate and go underground But what happens then when you have no choice but to ascend to the surface once again Emerge is a futuristic tale of a group of people who assumed they would live out their lives in an underground bunker only to be catapulted to the surface, and led out to find their new home Exodus style I loved the Biblical imagery and the sci fi fantasy plot I think it will make a [...]

    13. Emerge A Galatia Novel, Book 1 The Galatia Series by C.D Verhoff is a 311 page apocalyptic fantasy written in first person, present tense It has thirty eight chapters numbers, no titles , an author bio and glossary, which is broken down into three sections I also loved the cover, and thought it was perfect for the story I was worried about the book having a glossary, that there would be too many people and that too many things would be introduced but I never felt that way Verhoff was able to des [...]

    14. I liked the book, but there was some grammatical errors, and because there was a couple graphic sexual scenes that I felt were not needed, my enjoyment was reduced.I could not recommend this to a teen, because of the sexual situations, but if they were removed, I do not think anything would be lost, and I think a wider variety of people could read it.

    15. Just finished reading Emerge by C.D Verhoff and loved it the way it went from the prequel to the first book was excellent and the story moved along with enough action and additional information that you have to keep reading.
